The calendar of events organised by Cosmetica Italia at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2016 opens, as it has become tradition, with the International Conference on Friday 18 March (9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) in the Sala Italia of Palazzo Congressi.
From reason to feeling: the languages of cosmetics is the title of the event, headed by a panel of experts from within and outside of the industry, that will reflect upon communication within cosmetics.
“It is a topic of great relevance for our industry” said Fabio Rossello, President of Cosmetica Italia. He added: “In July 2016 the European Commission will be presenting a report to the European Parliament and the Council which will provide guidelines to assess whether the claims used in cosmetics conform with common criteria introduced by Regulation 655/2013. It is a delicate review process that Cosmetica Italia and its Technical Committee are closely following”.
The International Conference is an opportunity for discussion and full visibility towards all stakeholders of the industry; the format of the event provides for a multidisciplinary and accross-the-board approach, able to highlight various aspects on the theme of communication in cosmetics.
After his farewell address, which will also include Marcella Marletta, Director General of Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical Services at the Italian Ministry of Health, there will be a discussion on the language of cosmetics, using research conducted by Ariela Mortara, Professor of Sociology of Consumption (IULM) as its basis. Following this presentation is Chris Flower, Director General of the CTPA – Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association, while lawyer Pierluigi Cottafavi addresses the legal aspects of public advertising in relation to cosmetics. Cosmetologist Luigi Rigano will describe the ideal journey that a formulator and evaluator take, starting with the design of a new product and ending with a safe and effective formula.
Finally, the round table that closes the Conference will be chaired by Il Sole 24 Ore journalist, Monica D’Ascenzo, who will lead a debate amongst representatives of the industry, institutions and consumers. Alongside President Rossello, those in attendance will be: Simona Lembi (President of the Commission for Equal Opportunities, ANCI), Vincenzo Guggino (Secretary General for IAP), Silvia Pittatore (Italian Competition Authority’s Directorate General for Consumer Protection) and Alessandro Mostaccio (Secretary General for Consumer Movement).
